New York Accommodation?
January 22, 2009 - Im going to NYC for the 1st time with a friend in Feb next year. Can anyone recommend a decent, resonably priced hotel or B&B please? We are both girls so dont want to stay anywhere too dodgy but dont have a huge amount to spend.

I'm going soon as well and found the best rates seem to be on craigslist.com. Look it up, find New York, then Housing, and look under both the vacation section and the sublet section. I've managed to find a really decent 1 bedroom apartment, with a full kitchen and bath, in a great area of the West Side for under $125. But I saw some very nice places -- studios, 1 bed apartments, and single rooms in a share situation -- all over town and for prices between $75 (shared rooms) and $225. Most have pics as well. Have just come back from 2nd visit, the first time we stayed in the Beacon Hotel on Broadway. It had it's own kitchen which was a blessing - big supermarket directly opposite and next to 73rd subway station and round the corner from central park - very handy. The second time we stayed at the Affinia Manhattan, 371 7th Avenue, this also had a kitchen but was a bigger suite altogether but not that expensive. Next door to a great deli and opposite Penn St. Station and a block away from Maceys, fabulous!

- i was in ST JAMES HOTEL and is very near of the atraccions, and paid 100 usd for 4 people in the same room, good look.
- Thirty Thirty hotel is very cool, good location and cheap. 3*. Check the web for it. I used to work for a travel company and we booked everyone in here! Buena Suerte
There are three places I recommend: http://www.incentravillage.com/index.html The Incentra Village Guest House is a great location in the heart of Greenwich Village on 8th Ave. Nice rooms, pleasant staff and close to subways and buses. http://www.minetta-suites.com/ An advantage of Minetta Suites is that most offer efficiency kitchens so you can save some cash by cooking some of your own meals. The company that manages the property also has another location on Bleeker St. It's more of an apartment style building and generally noisier. Minetta St. is quiet. If you're adventurous ask to stay in the haunted room! http://www.abingdonguesthouse.com/rooms.shtml The abingdon Guest House is located across 8th Ave. from the Incentra. It is pricier, but the rooms are better appointed and the staff is super.
